Heather, who is now an actor, writer and producer, previewed Period Dramas at The Other Palace Theatre earlier in the year. Bringing together cabaret, comedy, tap and spoken word, Period Dramas tells the history of menstruation from ancient Egypt right up until to today, teaching audiences the history they never learnt in school.
Heather said: ‘It has been fantastic putting Period Dramas together. I started writing it as I wanted to tackle menstrual taboo head on, challenging the way we think about bleeding and fighting to end period stigma for all people who bleed, and I’m doing it armed with glitter, blood, some history books and an arsenal of embarrassing stories!’
Period Dramas will be on at The Hope Theatre (Islington) on 3 and 4 July, before heading up to The Pleasance Courtyard (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) from 3rd-21st August.
