It was wonderful to hold our first Law Insight Day on Saturday 4 November. The event was aimed at raising awareness amongst students from years 9 to 13, from both STAHS and the wider community, about the many varied pathways, qualifications and careers in the legal industry. We were delighted to welcome around 220 students from STAHS and ten other schools and colleges from the local area.

The event started with a keynote talk by Lisa Ball, Head of Legal at Tiktok - who talked through her fascinating and diverse legal career in the communications industry, highlighting the unique challenges of working within rapidly moving or brand new areas of the law trying to keep pace with the continual evolution of social media.

Lisa's talk was followed by two panels featuring six STAHS alumni - with panellists from a range of different qualification routes covering studying for a Law degree, studying Law abroad, studying for a Law conversion diploma and undertaking a Law apprenticeship.

Ten break-out sessions followed, with alumni and parent speakers each discussing a different area of the Law - covering areas such as corporate law, sports law, media law and finance law. After lunch, topics such as entry procedures and application expectations were covered by parents and alumni who work in graduate recruitment for law firms. The day finished off with a large networking reception for everyone involved.

A huge thanks to the nine alumni who attended the day to discuss their Law degrees or legal careers.
